A great many Bronx events are run by people who do not do this for a living — a community board, a church, a school, a business association, a family. They have volunteers, a permit, a date, and one thing they cannot cover themselves. Dahlcore Security Guard Services supplies that part: licensed New York officers for community festivals, hall events, park and plaza gatherings, parades and corporate functions across the borough. We are veteran-owned, were founded in 2018, and are led by Ian Dahlberg, who brings more than 23 years of security experience. Community halls and centres
Church halls, school gyms, community rooms and catering halls hosting anything from a fundraiser to a quinceañera. One entrance, a kitchen door that stays open, and a guest list that grows on the night. Officers hold the door, keep the room to the number you were given, and handle the person who arrives without an invitation.
Parks, plazas and schoolyards
Open sites with several ways in and no walls. The boundary is whatever you put up, so officers cover the entry points and the edges, keep the vehicle and emergency lane clear, and stay visible across a field where your volunteers cannot see one end from the other.
Parades and processions
A moving footprint is its own problem: the secure area travels with the event, crossings open and close as it passes, and the crowd at the front is a different crowd from the one at the back. Officers work the line and the crossings and stay with the section they are assigned to from start to dispersal.
Corporate and business functions
Openings, client evenings, association dinners and staff events at Bronx offices, showrooms and venues. Credential checks that do not queue people onto the pavement, keeping the event floor separate from the rest of the building, and a discreet handling of anyone who should not be in the room.
We work alongside your volunteers, not over them
Most Bronx community events are run by a team of volunteers who know the event far better than we do. They know who the regulars are, which family needs the accessible table, and what the running order really is once it slips. Our officers are not there to take that over. The split we work to is simple: your people run the event, ours handle anything that stops being hospitality — the person who will not leave, the gate that has to hold, the medical call, the crowd getting heavier than the space allows. Everyone works better when that line is agreed at the briefing rather than in the moment.
Who Does What on Event Day
The most common cause of trouble at a community event is not a security failure — it is two groups both assuming the other had it. So this gets written down before the day, not decided during it.

Licensed and registered in New York
Dahlcore is a licensed New York State security guard agency. Officers are registered under the New York Security Guard Act (General Business Law Article 7-A) with the NY Department of State, Division of Licensing Services, and their training is DCJS-approved. Licensed, insured, and bonded — a certificate of insurance is available on request, and our licensing can be verified at dos.ny.gov.
Held to law-enforcement and military standards
Officers are background-checked and trained before assignment, meet the New York State training requirements, and are certified in CPR, AED and First Aid, with naloxone training where an overdose is suspected. Where a booking includes a personal detail, those agents include former NYPD, State Trooper and federal backgrounds.
Approachable is part of the job
At a family or community event most of what an officer does is answer questions, point people at the toilets, and reunite a child with a parent. We brief for that as deliberately as we brief for the difficult five minutes, because an officer nobody wants to approach is not much use at an event like this.
Written down, then evidenced
Post orders are written before the day so every officer knows their position and the escalation path. Attendance and patrols are confirmed with GPS and geofenced verification, and you get a reporting portal login plus a written report afterwards — the kind of documentation a venue, funder or board will ask you for.
A parade is a venue that keeps moving
Everything that makes a fixed site manageable disappears at a procession. There is no perimeter, because the perimeter travels. Crossings have to open and close as the front passes and then hold again for the tail. The crowd at the head of the route is a different crowd from the one three blocks back, and the two ends can be twenty minutes apart. Officers are assigned to a section and stay with it rather than drifting toward wherever looks busiest, cover the crossings and the barrier line as it moves, and stay with the event through dispersal — which at a parade is the part most likely to go wrong.

We are a community organisation with volunteers — how does that work?
It works well, and it is a lot of what we do here. Your volunteers keep running the event; officers take the parts that stop being hospitality — the entrance, anyone who has to be asked to leave, the medical call, keeping exits clear. We agree that split at the briefing and put it in the post orders so nobody is waiting on the other group to act.
Can you cover a parade or a procession rather than a fixed site?
Yes. A moving event is staffed by section rather than by post, with officers assigned to a stretch of the route and staying with it, covering the crossings and the barrier line as the event passes. Dispersal at the end is planned as carefully as the start, because that is where a procession most often comes apart.
Our event is in a park or schoolyard with no fence — can you still secure it?
Yes. The boundary becomes whatever is put up on the day plus where officers stand, so the plan covers the entry points, the open edges people will actually use, and the vehicle and emergency lane. On a wide site officers rove rather than hold one door, so coverage reaches the far end and not just the entrance.
Do your officers coordinate with the police?
Officers work to your venue’s emergency plan. If something needs the police, FDNY or EMS, they call it in, clear access, direct responders to the right place and keep the route open. We do not claim a standing arrangement with any particular precinct — what we provide is officers who know when to escalate and who document it properly afterwards.
Can you staff a hall event where the guest count grows during the night?
Yes, and it is worth saying so at the briefing, because it changes the door. Officers hold a running count against the number you give us and tell you when the room is getting close, so the decision to slow the door is yours and made early rather than made for you by the fire code at eleven o’clock.
What happens if a guest is unwell or a child gets separated?
Officers are certified in CPR, AED and First Aid, and trained to administer naloxone where an overdose is suspected. For a lost child, one officer stays with them while the description goes out to every post and the exits are watched, which is why roving coverage across the whole site matters more at a family event than a bigger team at the front door.
Are you available on weekends and holidays?
Yes. Most community and family events in the Bronx happen at exactly those times, so we staff seven days a week including holidays, and dispatch is reachable around the clock for events already on the calendar.
Our venue wants a certificate of insurance before it will confirm — can you provide one?
Yes, and ask early rather than the week before. Dahlcore is licensed, insured and bonded, and a certificate of insurance can be issued on request — which is usually what a hall, a park permit office, a school or a funder is actually asking for when they say they need proof of cover from your security provider. Our licensing can also be verified publicly at dos.ny.gov.
Most of the job is being approachable
At a community or family event, the overwhelming majority of an officer’s shift is not confrontation. It is directions, a bathroom question, a grandmother who wants somewhere to sit, a parent who has lost sight of a child for ninety seconds and needs someone calm immediately. Those minutes decide whether people felt looked after or merely watched. We brief for them as seriously as for anything else, because an officer nobody feels able to approach is not doing half of what you are paying for.
